AIChE, Metro NY awards $500 grants to seven AIChE Student Chapters of local universities

The winners are:
* CCNY 
* Columbia University 
* The Cooper Union 
* Manhattan College
* Polytechnic Institute of NYU
* Stony Brook Univ.
* U.S. Military Academy

At an award ceremony before the Tuesday, November 1st Career Day at the Chem Show, the lucky winners received the development grant monies for projects they proposed for the 2011-12 academic year. 

Among the awarding-winning ideas were plans to enhance student ChemE Car competition teams, monies for attending regional student meetings, and funding  a "What is Chemical Engineer-
ing?" Night.

The local section aimed to assist in the development of student chapter's programs to further different aspects of chem. engineering practice or specific projects, as well as  organizational funding to set up a strong student chapter.

We hope to highlight some of these student projects in future Newsletters and on our webpages.
